What Color Is Your Mortgage? Fair Lending Issues and the Mortgage Crisis in NYC

By: Coaltion for Debtor Education, Urban Law Center at Fordham Law School

Where you live often determines how you live: the schools your children attend; the jobs you have access to; the quality of your neighborhood and access to services; the level of crime. The only color that should matter to the mortgage market is green. Our panel of lawyers from MFY Legal Services and Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A will take us through the history of fair housing issues, from redlining in the 30s through decades of legislation to combat discrimination, as well as an assessment of the current status of the law, and suggestions on what to do now. The Coalition will also honor Jumaane D. Williams, NYC Council, District 45, Chair of the Council's Committee on Housing and Buildings, with our 2015 Friend of the Consumer award in recognition for his work for affordable housing in New York.

Donation $25 (Fordham students and faculty free) $50 for 2 CLE credits Co-sponsored by the Urban Law Center at Fordham Law School. Details and registration: click here
