Webinar: U.S. and EU Perspectives on Foreign Direct Investment Opportunities and Regulatory Challenges in a Post-COVID-19 World

Thursday, May 28, 2020
10:00 a.m. EDT/
4:00 p.m. CET

As the global business and investment community looks beyond the COVID-19 crisis with anticipation, this webinar will discuss what awaits eager investors and companies seeking an influx of capital with respect to increasingly aggressive regulators in the U.S. and the EU. We will discuss the current state of U.S. and EU foreign direct investment national security controls with an emphasis on the newly expanded powers of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), evolving policies and trends concerning foreign investment originating from China, and how the upcoming U.S. presidential election and the culmination of Brexit may affect those issues.

Our presentation, which will feature practitioners from Loyens & Loeff and Miller & Chevalier and be broadcast live from Amsterdam, Brussels, and Washington, DC, will focus on practical steps that prospective investors and multi-national companies in the U.S. and EU should be considering now to prepare themselves to take advantage of investment opportunities while minimizing regulatory risk in the face of an uncertain global economic and political landscape.

Panelists:
  • AMSTERDAM: Gerard Kreijen, Senior Associate, Co-head of the International Trade & Customs Practice, Loyens & Loeff
  • BRUSSELS: Bert Gevers, Partner, Indirect Tax Practice, Loyens & Loeff
