Improvements to state court adult guardianship systems can include the promotion of less restrictive options, strengthening rights, and ensuring accountability. Making significant changes in practice and systems requires the commitment of many interested parties, including courts and the legal, aging, and disability communities.

Join us for Part 2 of this training series to learn about the role of attorneys and strategies for legal advocacy for proposed protected persons and protected persons. Watch Part 1 here.

Presenters will discuss:

  • Benefits of legal counsel in guardianship proceedings;
  • Role of the attorney and how to be a zealous advocate for a protected or proposed protected person;
  • Person-centered representation; and
  • Legal strategies for advocating for less restrictive alternatives to guardianship and termination of guardianship.
