Citizenship Now! Call-in:

April 22 - April 26, 2013

Call-in Training: April 16

Register Now!

Dear Volunteers,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the upcoming CUNY/Daily News Citizenship Now! Call-In.

For those of you who haven't taken part in this exciting event, at the call-in we provide information to callers to help them on their path to citizenship. In 2012 we assisted more than 12,000 individuals bringing our total to 109,873 callers since the call-in began.

This year's call-in will be held April 22 to April 26, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  It will be preceded by a training on April 16, 2013 at the CUNY Graduate Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  A reception will follow the training starting at 5 p.m.

With the possibility of immigration reform and with the addition of WABC-TV as a media sponsor, we are expecting many more calls this year, both on our Spanish and English lines. This year we will rely more than ever in our volunteers to have a greater impact in the immigrant community of New York.

How to register:

To register to volunteer at the call-in, the training and/or the reception please fill out the Call-in Volunteer Registration form.  We ask you to please sign up for the slots that you are confident you will be able to attend.  Please sign up for slots only on days when you can come.  That way we have a realistic idea of how much additional volunteer outreach we will need to do.

What will you learn at the call-in training:

At the training experienced attorneys will cover various areas of immigration law that are important to our callers.  They will also go over procedures that we have established to make the call-in a successful event.

To be able to accommodate more volunteers this year, and  help more callers, we will live stream the training online.

Do you need to attend the training to volunteer at the call-in?

If you do not have working experience in immigration law, attending this training is a condition for participating in the Call-In.  All volunteers are welcome to attend the reception.

What else will you receive?

Besides the satisfaction of helping fellow New Yorkers, during the call-in CUNY and the Daily News will provide volunteers with breakfast and lunch.  The Daily News will also publish a photo and bio of each participant who submits them by the deadline.  You will receive information about how to submit your photo once you register for the call-in using the Call-in Volunteer Registration form, so do not delay and register now!

For more information about the call-in, contact Kymete Gashi, Special Projects Coordinator, at 646-285-4905 or email us at cunycitizenshipnow@gmail.com.

See you at the call-in!
