The Essential Role of the Legal Assistance Developer

When: Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET

A central tenet of the Older Americans Act (OAA) is ensuring access to benefits and services for older adults in the greatest social and economic need. An empowered State Legal Assistance Developer (LAD) is an important advocate for legal services, and a strategic connector, working across the network to strengthen the legal services and elder rights advocacy delivery system. This webinar will provide insight into the OAA’s guidance on the LAD, detail examples of the impact a strong LAD has on the state’s legal services and elder rights delivery system, and provide recommendations for strengthening the LAD role.

An issue brief will be released with the webinar.

Closed captioning will be available on this webinar. A link with access to the captions will be shared through GoToWebinar’s chat box shortly before the webinar start time.

Presenters:

  • Penelope Hommel, Co-Director, The Center for Social Gerontology
  • Jane Arieux Thomas, Legal Assistance Developer, Louisiana
  • Homa Woodrum, Legal Assistance Developer, Nevada

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET.
