Released by Netflix in March 2022, Rescued by Ruby depicts the real-life story of the titular search dog, which had hyperactivity. The heartwarming tale stars Grant Gustin as Daniel O'Neil, the Rhode Island state trooper who was Ruby's handler.

O'Neil took on the challenge due to his interest in becoming a member of the K-9 search and rescue team, despite seven previous rejections, and to prevent Ruby's euthanization. The pair began their training process, but it didn't initially go smoothly, considering Ruby's excitable personality. However, O'Neil revealed their commonalities when he shared his dyslexia and hyperactivity diagnosis, coming up against people who lacked faith in him.

Come join us to discuss issues of disability and acceptance in this tale on February 8, 2023, at 7:00pm. Links to the meeting will be sent via email.
