Workplace Accommodations and Disability Disclosure
Presented by
William N. Myhill, MEd, JD, ABD
Disabilities in the workplace take many forms and often are not visible. Accommodations effectively keep people with disabilities working rather than the employer having to go without an employee for a time period, and hiring and training a new employee – all of which is a financial loss to the organization compared to accommodating an existing employee. Accommodations are also a tool for providing workplace equity – by meeting each person where they are and finding what accommodations will support them to perform their essential job functions. This workshop will equip paralegals with essential knowledge to make informed decisions about accommodation requests.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
· You will Understand an employer’s responsibilities toward an employee or applicant with a disability
· You will Learn why reasonable accommodations are provided
· You will Learn how an equitable interactive process works
· You will Understand when and why to disclose a disability in the application process or while on the job
