Coming out of the student loan payment pause, federal student loan debt remains a burden for many Americans, especially older borrowers. Many of these borrowers, age 60 or older, are struggling with a disability that prevents them from working to pay back the loans they took out for their own education or to pay for their children's or grandchildren's education. These borrowers may be eligible to have their federal student loan debt discharged under the Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) Discharge Program.
