Since fall of 2014, the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), with our Executive Committee partners at Citi Community Development, the Center for Popular Democracy, and the Mayor’s Offices of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, has built the infrastructure for Mayors to support and take leadership around naturalization efforts in their cities. Additionally, our partners at AFL-CIO, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO), the National Federation of Credit Development Unions, Welcoming America, and 32 BJ SEIU have been critical to C4C’s work of assisting 60 municipal leaders with technical assistance in the development of naturalization programming across the network of 21 participating cities and counties; as well as building nationwide coordination of naturalization efforts. At the National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC) in December, New York City’s Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA), together with Citi Community Development, released a report titled, “The Economic Impact of Naturalization on Immigrants and Cities”. We want to follow up from this release and invite you to be a part of the first C4C webinar of 2016 that will discuss the findings of this report and its implications for our cities. Featured guests will discuss the findings and implications of a recently released report, The Economic Impact of Naturalization on Immigrants and Cities. Examining the naturalization-eligible immigrant population in 21 historic gateway cities across the country, the report reveals the tremendous economic impact of naturalization on immigrants and the cities where they live. Join us to learn about how you can use these findings to bolster naturalization efforts in your city.
